Family!
What a difference leadership makes. We had a wonderful Zone Meeting this Wednesday! The spirit was so strong. Sister Lyles and I left with so much urgency and a desire to see everyone come into the waters of baptism. What an eye of faith! Hearing the testimony of others and sharing our own really does grow ours MORE!!! Well we left with such a great desire that lasted all day. Then the next day we tried and tried but nothing came of it. Finally at 8:15 our church fell through (3rd one for the day to cancel) and !!! were we not having faith???? So...we decided to go knock on the doors over there-even though it was well past the time that we usually approach people by knocking on the door.
We met Sally* and she agreed to come on a tour. She accepted the invitation to be baptized and brought her boyfriend and another friend to church on Sunday. It was wonderful to see the light in her eyes as she heard the message of peace that we shared. We haven't taught her about the book of Mormon yet or really much at all, but we will be seeing her on Wednesday!
This morning is the 4th of July. I HAVE SUCH A LOVE FOR THE COUNTRY!!! We are so blessed to be living here. Always call your neighbors to have faith in God and serve him. If this country goes....we have fallen into so much iniquity. If eel SO privileged to be serving in this country, the choice land that has a promise of God attached to it! Sister Lyles and I ran the bridge again this morning, and it was easier than the last time I ran it. yay for working out!
Sunday we had an AMAZING first lesson with a man named Patrick*. I've knocked into him before with Sister Fox. Then Sister Lyels and I knocked into him again. Each time I remember bearing powerful testimony to him about the restoration. The first time he was interested...but then not really. The second time was the same thing...only then! He agreed to come to church! after confessing concerns "Can I come if I don't believe in Joseph Smith" Yes yes yes, well it turns out that he actually is 40 yrs old and feels like he is being pulled in a new direction. He pulled out 3 pages of scriptures he had studied and written down. they were wonderful and he said he felt like they were telling him something. I told him about James 1:5 and he said!! it's on there! going to church never felt so good as just having shared the restoration with him.
Tonight we are going (with special permission from our mission pres) with our ward mission leader Richard Childs and Patrick* and Laura* and her family (they are all investigators) to a private firework show down by the water or something. WOW!!! you know how much I LOVE the fourth or July and fireworks! HOW COOOL!!!! I get to go and stay out at watch and see my investigators interact. I love everyone!!!
*Names changed for privacy
THE NEW GUY!!! His name is president Weaver. HE and his wife are sooooo excited to be here. I LOVE the energy they bring. They are much more outgoing than the Bowens and fill me with a sweet new idea of how I can serve. They talk of having a "sister day" soon. They had all girls and president says he is partial to girls. sehehhehe, but don't tell:) I love them!!! He and I were chatting and He just put his arm around me!!!! ...mmm ok ! so I put my arm around him! There is an unwritten rule that sister can't hug anyone but sisters. LOl so I was telling some elders of how!! oh my he did that! he is so loving! and they said 'well don't worry,, he's not accountable.' bahahaha. so funny. I love him.
I hope you all stay close together and love! The work in this mission is rolling on. We are told from the 12 that we need to double our baptisms. We are baptizing a lot but there is more to be harvested!!!! Have faith and know that our Father is working a marvelous work. He is going before my face and is my rear-word. May He ever be that for our family as we grow together in the gospel's light. I pray for you all!!
Love sister Clendening
